SGORR NA CICHE (PAP OF GLENCOE )

another one from our anniversary weekend away.

pap of glencoe, the bump at the very end of a large massif ridge right over glencoe village. very characteristic point, but as this is just a small hill we kept postponing it forever... until the latest visit in glencoe when the conditions (snow) made climbing it worthwhile.

path starts on the minor road (the one going thru glencoe village) after about 5 mins drive we arrived to the small parking bay (tiny) opposite the large gate. checked on the map if we were in the right place but couldnt be sure.. but as we got off the car and checked the gate out we realised that it is actually signposted to pap of glencoe. 

the path is very well defined, easy to follow and as we could see the pap at all times we had no problem with directions.

pap of glencoe to jest ten cypek na samym koncu wielkiego masywu ciagnacego sie as od pass of glencoe do loch leven, szczyt pap'a goruje nad wioska glencoe nicznym stroz, bardzo charterystyczny punkt. niestety dlatego ze to tylko mala gorka wziac odsuwalysmy jej zdobycie, ale prawde mowiac w warunkach zimowych nabiera atrakcyjnosci :)

sciezka zaczyna sie przy jednopasmoweczce wiodacej przez wioske glencoe, po okolo 5 min jazdy dotarlysmy do maciupkiej jakby zatoczki naprzeciwko duzej bramy. z mapy nie bylysmy pewne czy to tam, ale po szybkim rozpoznaniu terenu okazalo sie ze tak (drogowskaz na dranie ze strzalka do pap of glencoe)

sciezka jest dobrze widoczna, latwo okreslic gdzie isc, szczegolnie ze caly czas widac cel- pap of glencoe.

yep, i got stuck in the snowdrift couple of times  /  no jasne, wpadlam w zaspe kilka razy

snowing again! weather was changing constantly with only short periods of sunshine/snow/rain

znow snieg pada! pogoda zmieniala sie strasznie szybko, bylo slonce, snieg, deszcz

and then at one point the sun came out and flooded the glen..

i w pewnym momencie wyszlo slonce i nagle zalalo cala doline

.. and in the evening things came back to the usual ...   /   a wieczorem sprawy wrocily do starego porzadku...

jak wspomnialam cypelek jest malutki tak wiec zobaczenie kazdego zakamarka nie zajmie wiecej niz 1.5 godz

short walk in ballachulish

alltan mhic aoidh is a small peninsula (actually it's tiny) on loch leven. views from this lovely spot are amazing, in all directions: west to the bridge and further to the hills on ardnamurchan peninsula, north to the group of hills called mamores, west to pap of glencoe, very end of aonach eagach ridge and south to the group of hills called beinn a'breithir

we started the walk from ballachulish visitor centre (car park shared with co-op), walked under the bridge and we were already there -free to explore this lovely viewpoint. as I already mentioned, the place is tiny, so exploring it in detail takes just as much as 1.5hrs
