another area of isle of arran which is very much worth exploring is machrie moor. located at the west side of the island is easily overlooked, the nearby king's cave gets all the attention.
there is a small car park off A841, not too far north from cairnfield farm (hidden behind a hedge).
the place is quite quiet, but there is a good path (mostly occupied by resting sheep) and several stances of ancient monoliths are located along it.
if you're lucky to have your bike with you and are keen on exploring the area please see below the cycle route around machrie moors. these are minor roads and good for cycling, not much traffic. we loved cycling there :)

kolejny zakatek wyspy arran, ktory polecamy goraco odwiedzic to wrzosowisko machrie moor. znajduje sie w zachodniej czesci wyspy i jest moze mniej odwiedzane niz pobliska jaskinia king's cave, ale warto sie tam wybrac.
przy drodze A841 (niedaleko na polnoc od cairnfield farm) znajduje sie maly parking (za zywoplotem) , z niego biegnie sciezka wiodaca przez wrzosowisko i 'zawijajaca' do kilku stancji prehistorycznych monolitow, kregow kamiennych.
jesli zwiedzasz wyspe arran na rowerze - pomysl o ponizszej trasie, ktora 'objezdza' wrzosowisko dookola, jest bardzo malownicza. trasa biegnie malymi drogami, nie ma tu duzego ruchu, nam jezdzilo sie wspaniale :)

there are several standing stone rings, some rather smallish, some quite impressive
znajduje sie tu kilka kamiennych kregow, niektore dosc male, inne robia niezle wrazenie..
the first large monolith we saw was a single stone

but we could already see more stones, nearby
