pop in to PLOCKTON !!

plockton has a typical 'west coast feeling' to it. we both really liked this little place and we know that in sunshine it would be even better :)
most definitely worth visiting!
come, explore it, have some seafood and enjoy a great chat with Asa from the gift shop :)

.
.

SHIELDAIG

shieldaig aka the most picturesque village in the highlands (as per the web)
nope, this isnt! i can easily name villages located in more beautiful spots!
shieldaig is not too bad, but if you decide to visit just because of its fame you will be disappointed.. i was :(

.
.

:(

there is a free camping ground in the village (free of charge but no facilities, donation appreciated) however there is a public toilet (just down the hill), open long hours

what a crazy day it was!
to cut the story short we left edinburgh at about 4.30am, arrived to inverness exactly 3 hrs later, had a breakfast there and drove further, to torridon.
it was our first visit to this area and, oh boy, i was overwhelmed by its beauty.
as soon as we turned into A832 the views were spectacular. majestic mountains & lochs. awesome.
as we approached kinlochewe i started feeling a little bit overwhelmed by the fact that i planned to hike there- we were surrounded by mighty big mountains, dont get me wrong i felt privileged that i was there but on the same hand i didnt really believe that i will manage to climb any of them :)
soon we reached the torridon village and followed the northern shores of upper loch torridon (nice mountain road by the way!) and we reached the car park near Abhain Coire Mhic Nobuil in no time.

munro of the day: tom na gruagaich
922m

we didnt feel fit to try the whole beinn alligin ridge on that day, so climbed only one of the beinn alligin munros. it's a straightforward climb, well defined path. at first it's rather wet, then path becomes rugged, rocky and going up coire nan laogh is pretty steep. however going up doesnt seem endless, although it was our 'standard' 3 hrs up (going down does seem neverending thou!) and the summit of tom na gruagaich is reached 'suddenly'.

.
.

co za szalony dzien!
w skrocie - wyjechalysmy z edynburga okolo 4.30rano, dokladnie 3 godziny pozniej bylysmy w inverness i szukalysmy jakiejs kafejki na sniadanie, zaraz potem ruszyysmy dalej, do torridonu.

wysokosc 922 mnpm

beinn dearg
at the beginning it's a rather wet going, but the views are already amazing

beinn damh & upper loch torridon

stile!  /  drabinka przez plot

oh yes, it couldnt decide whether to rain or not. waterproofs were on and off.

beinn dearg & beinn eighe

finally the weather improves a little (dry!) so we finally see the pinnacles etc. at this point the path is already rugged and eroded, but fairly good going.

the views are fantastic!  / widoki sa wspaniale!

this picture isnt the best, but far, on the horizon is isle of skye. the visibility was quite ok and, to my surprise we managed to make out all the famous points of the isle! blaven, sligachan munros, old man of storr, quiraing and further!

moze to zdjecie za dobrze nie pokazuje, ale daleko na horyzoncie jest wyspa skye. widocznosc byla niezgorsza i ku mojemu zaskonczeniu udalo nam sie dojrzec wszystkie slunne punkty wyspy skye - blavena, grupe munrosow kolo sligachan, old nam of storr, quiraing i jeszcze dalej!
